This October we’re celebrating independent businesses and the amazing impact of shopping local. Totally Locally calls this the Magic Tenner – because as a study by the New Economics Foundation shows, spending just £10 with one independent business can generate up to £50 of extra spend in the local economy, as that tenner is passed on to suppliers, services, and other nearby businesses.
As a way of thanking everyone who spends £10 locally, businesses will be offering loads of amazing £10 offers over the two weeks and showing how many local suppliers & businesses they spend with. Check out our socials to see the offers as they pop-up!
To bring this idea to life, the team from Totally Locally HQ headed to Knaresborough to film A Tale of a Tenner. Over one packed (and very fun!) day, we followed the journey of a single £10 note as it made its way through 14 local businesses. We had a blast capturing it all on film!
